詳細情報Information

Yoshino sugi is Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) which is grown in Yoshino, and it is one of the most prestigious woods of Japan. Yoshino is in the central area of Nara Prefecture (mainly in Kawakami Village, Higashi-yoshino Village, and Kurotaki Village). The unique technique for growing the wood is characterized by dense planting, frequent thinning, and long felling period. The wood with a beautiful deep red/brown color has few knots.
The mix of heartwood and softwood (“genpei” in Japanese), shows a beautiful and lusty contrast of deep red/brown color of heartwood and bright white/cream color of softwood. While heartwood boards are more rare and precious, genpei boards are more accessible in the market with a lower price.
Especially a knotless quarter sawn board shows a luxurious impression with its straight and fine grain pattern.
