詳細情報Information

Yoshino hinoki is Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) which is grown in Yoshino, and it is one of the most prestigious woods of Japan. Yoshino is in the central area of Nara Prefecture (mainly in Kawakami Village, Higashi-yoshino Village, and Kurotaki Village). The unique technique for growing the wood is characterized by dense planting, frequent thinning, and long felling period. The wood gives a sense of immaculateness and luxury with few knots and an extremely fine grain. Its color is a delicate mix of white and pink with a subtle color difference between heartwood and softwood. It also has a distinctive aroma from its extractive, hinokitiol, which has antibacterial and relaxation effect.
Especially quarter sawn knotless boards show a very fine straight grain pattern and an extraordinary beauty.
