詳細情報Information

Yoshino sugi is Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) which is grown in Yoshino, and it is one of the most prestigious woods of Japan. Yoshino is the central area of Nara Prefecture (mainly in Kawakami Village, Higashi-yoshino Village, and Kurotaki Village). The unique technique for growing the wood is characterized by dense planting, frequent thinning, and long felling period. The wood with a beautiful deep red/brown color has few knots.
Among different qualities of Yoshino sugi, the highest quality boards are produced with a knotless heartwood.
Especially a quarter sawn board in this quality shows a very fine straight grain pattern and an extraordinary beauty.
